'Just Go With It' Biggest Redbox Rental of 2011

Bad Adam Sandler movies don't die; they live forever in Redbox kiosks around the country. According to new figures released by the DVD company, 'Just Go With It' was the most rented title of 2011, topping 'No Strings Attached,' 'Rango,' 'The Dilemma' and 'Due Date.' Released back in February, the romantic comedy was actually one of Sandler's more well-received films of 2011, despite a Rotten Tomatoes rating of just 19 percent. The remainder of the year would bring the Sandler-produced disaster 'Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star' and the Sandler-led disaster 'Jack & Jill.' In fact, it's the 'Just Go With It' release date that might account for its massive Redbox rentals; as the Los Angeles Times points out, the longer a film is available at kiosks around the country, the more chances it has to be rented. 'Just Go With It' was also the beneficiary of a day-and-date deal that Sony (its distributor) has with Redbox, which allows the company to make DVDs available for rental on the same day they go on sale. Studios like Fox, Universal and Warner Bros. do not have that agreement with Redbox; only three of those studios' titles wound up in the top-ten. 1. 'Just Go With It' 2. 'No Strings Attached' 3. 'Rango' 4. 'The Dilemma' 5. 'Due Date' 6. 'Despicable Me' 7. 'The Tourist' 8. 'The Lincoln Lawyer' 9. 'The Green Hornet' 10. Max von Sydow on 'Extremely Noisy and very Close,' 'Flash Gordon' and 'Strange Brew'

Once I was six-years-old, Max von Sydow sure scared the living hell from me. Now, this had nothing associated with 'The Exorcist' rather, my skittish youthful self was truly scared of von Sydow's performance as Ming the Cruel in 'Flash Gordon' -- a thing that I felt compelled to confess to von Sydow. Which wasn't easy because -- even at 82 years old -- von Sydow remains an imposing figure. As gracious as von Sydow is, he's still a tall guy with a sometimes gruff, "seen everything, attempted everythingInch look on his face that bellows, "I'm not prone to endure all your shit, punk." (Fortunately, he did.) In 'Extremely Noisy and very Close,' von Sydow plays an at-first not named character whose relationship getting a young boy named Oskar (Thomas Horn) -- whose father (Tom Hanks) died inside the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks -- reaches become more apparent since the story originates. Von Sydow's character is leasing a place from Oskar's grandmother and does not speak, recording every word he desires to communicate, and joins Oskar around the mission to locate the strategies for an important that Oskar contained in his late father's mattress room. Von Sydow spoke candidly concerning the subject couple of the film, including some key moments (so, yes, that is a little of the spoiler alert), reminisced about filming cult faves 'Flash Gordon' and 'Strange Brew,' and revealed which of his over 100 films is, within the opinion, his most critical. Also, there's that time he switched lower employment inside the first Jason Bourne movie... Round the notes that you apply inside the film, is always that really your handwriting? Yes. You've excellent penmanship. Essentially were within the situation, people would likely say, "Sorry, I am unable to read that." [Laughs] That needed plenty of ... I used to be just a little anxious it might take considerable time. It must be readable! I've come across the film, but my position inside the theater, I possibly could not necessarily start to see the text constantly. However hope it's visible. After watching this movie I felt compelled to determine the GQ piece round the 9/11 sufferers who hopped within the towers. Is always that an regular reaction? No, no, no. I don't think so. This is often a movie, In my opinion, it's a movie of a boy who finds their very own therapy to escape the trauma that 9/11 created. It really is a film that wants move ahead for the future and don't be stuck at what went lower. Though, you must do revive tomorrow as you are watching this movie. Well, clearly. You have to. Clearly. However It is a great way of this boy to discover using this method out. He's made a decision, "I am certain my father leaves something will be able to move on with. To continue. To look for. To locate. To achieve.Inch And, clearly, the dad hasn't. But he finds it anyway. But regrettably, if you comprehend it, "It had not been meant for me, it absolutely was meant for another person. It absolutely was this other guy. This other father." But, nevertheless, it's hope searching forward. Would you like the bond between Oskar along with your character was more ambiguous? Simply how much do you realize prior to deciding to seen? I didn't know anything before. And that means you hadn't see the book? No. When have you determine that I would be something? Once the subject of Dresden emerged. OK. After which it a voice-over certifies this later. Yes, yes, yes. However when that voice-over hadn't already been through it? Would I have known? Yes, but you will see a little of doubt. Whatrrrs your opinion? Well, I am unsure. However find this interesting. We've been speaking relating to this, clearly. What if it's? When when the audience know the relationship? When would they? Where had you been in that debate? I desired it late as you can. You think the Dresden discussion was a lot of? Well, clearly this can be a risk. Nevertheless it was necessary to explain something in regards to the Renter's background. Therefore I think it had been good. And I am unsure simply how much you realize Dresden? Midway decent well. And That I read 'Slaughterhouse Five.' It absolutely was a catastrophe to check on with Hiroshima. And so they type of melted lower the city. It absolutely was this type of attack of firebombs -- it absolutely was cruel. Terrible. But, that was war. Your character doesn't speak. Was there any discussion for you to get him say a thing in a few type of dramatic fashion? Or does that defeat the main reason? There has been suggestions that, maybe, finally, he should say something. But I've been against that. Nevertheless the film is not relevant for this character finally getting a chance to speak -- it's a film in regards to the boy. It comes down lower to him finally feeling, "the long run is mine which i shall be capable of live no matter what's happening in my opinion. In . Perhaps you have whatsoever do an excessive amount of motions or facial expressions since you weren't speaking? No. There's no distinction between him and normal people except the fact he's made a decision, "I will not say a thing more throughout my existence." But he talks! Through his writing. However I didn't believe I desired to create a move extra to have the ability to, how should I believe that, be communicative. Are you currently presently sad you do not have any moments with Tom Hanks? Well, it's funny because locating the script and reading through with the script: wonderful. Then, before reading through with the script, being told that Tom Hanks was already about it. And Sandra Bullock. And That I have always respected Tom Hanks greatly, he's a great actor and that i have loved his films. And So I am like, "Ah, wonderful!" Right, "Hey, I finally get moving with Tom Hanks!" I still haven't met him. To this day, you have not met Tom Hanks? No. I am hoping I meet him. But that's the way is at films. People say, "Oh, you labored using the and therefore in this particular film." And I believe that, "No I didn't. I used to be inside the film, yes, however never met this individual. His moments were within the other finish in the film." Once I will be a little kid, you frightened me a good deal as Ming in 'Flash Gordon.' 'Flash Gordon'! Ah! Could be that the fun movie to shoot? Just like a little kid, this can be a great movie to check out. [Laughs] No, it absolutely was thrilling, I must admit. Beginning that production, I'd not seen the television series. Perhaps you have realize that? No. That movie was my first review of Costly Gordon. I'd see the cartoon once i will be a boy which i loved it greatly. It absolutely was launched weekly. Someone said it which i had been intrigued with this particular guy who traveled using the world. And simply emerged which i will be within it which i had been happy. And loved it greatly. Also it didn't do that well laminator tl901-office, but has converted into a cult favorite since. Really, you're in many movies that are cult faves. Maybe, I am unsure. It's still on every from time to time, isn't it? It's. As well as the soundtrack is popular because Full did the music activity. Oh, yes. Someone said that you just switched lower the role of Dr. No inside the first Jason bourne film. I used to be offered Dr. No, yes. [Laughing] Which I switched it lower! Is always that something you regret? Am I Going To be sorry? No. I don't. Well, clearly, I didn't know very well what Jason Bourne is at individuals days. And, clearly, I didn't know very well what happens [laughs] afterwards. But, then, over time, I used to be provided to remain in 'Never Refuse More.A With Irvin Kershner pointing, who had just done 'The Empire Strikes Back.' Yes. That was the renegade Jason Bourne film not approved by United states . Artists. A remake of 'Thunderball.' Was there any pressure not to participate? No. Not always. But there has been large problems like, "What exactly can perform? In . and "What exactly are we able to not do? Exactly what are we allowed to accomplish? What's legally correct to accomplish? In . But this factor showed up in this area also it wasn't an undesirable film. Speaking about cult faves, you're in 'Strange Brew.' Ah! Are you currently presently Canadian? No, however visited college inside a Midwestern condition school where it absolutely was extremely popular. It absolutely was fun to accomplish. Really, once i was asked for to make it happen I didn't know anything about these two males [Ron Moranis and Dork Thomas]. I didn't watch Canadian television [laughs]. Therefore I would never know anything about people two males, however it might be an interesting story therefore i was like, "Ah!" Just a minimum of sitting on a thing that wasn't totally serious and a lot of the films I'm on offer are :. Which I met together and so they were excellent company company directors, the all of them. A very nice shoot. Perhaps you have understand their Canadian humor? Yes, In my opinion so! I loved them greatly. However I have still not always seen a few of their Tv shows. But you have often seen 'Strange Brew,' right? Yes. Which from the movies can you revisit most often? I don't return watching them. Really? Ever? Well, it happens. That has it happened with? Well, i rapidly return because somebody desires to notice which i are really there. Yes, as being a Blu-ray release. However cannot condition which i watch my movies systematically. If someone who I'm with desires to see something, well, I am in a position to show it for you personally. Can you not enjoy watching them? Well, it's interesting. If people request me, "To suit your needs, what's your most critical film?" I have got a sense all of them type of want me to resolve and one of the Bergman films. However cannot choose. I'm not able to express which of people would be the most critical. Because that was a chunk of films which, undoubtedly, was possibly the most important that happened throughout my existence. But that was, how should I believe that, numerous films. However when I will select one film that was important, it absolutely was 'Pelle the Conqueror.' Perhaps you have notice? Yes. And you also were nominated with an Academy Award for the film. Yes, a nomination. That might happen again for 'Extremely Noisy and very Close.' [Laughs] However like 'Pelle the Conqueror' greatly. Plus it would be a fascinating film to accomplish. In my opinion lots of people might have been very surprised in the event you thought your most critical movie was 'Strange Brew.' [Laughing] Yes! First Published: December 15, 2011 9:06 AM EST Credit: The Weinstein Company Caption Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo in Weinstein Companys The Artist, 2011BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- Silent film is taking over Hollywoods awards scene. The silent-era tale The Artist heads the Golden Globes with six nominations, among them best comedy or musical and acting honors for its French stars, Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo. Tied for second-place in Thursdays nominations are the 1960s racial tale The Help and George Clooneys Hawaiian family story The Descendants. Both films are up for best drama, while Clooney was nominated for best dramatic actor and The Help earned acting slots for Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Jessica Chastain. Also competing for best drama: Martin Scorseses Paris adventure Hugo; Clooneys political thriller The Ides of March; Brad Pitts baseball chronicle Moneyball; and Steven Spielbergs World War I epic War Horse. Joining The Artist in the best musical or comedy category are: the cancer story 50/50; Kristen Wiigs wedding romp Bridesmaids; Woody Allens romantic fantasy Midnight in Paris; and Michelle Williams Marilyn Monroe tale My Week with Marilyn. Glenn Close also is a dual contender, as best dramatic actress for the Irish drama Albert Nobbs and for best song for writing the lyrics to Lay Your Head Down, the films theme tune. Along with the Screen Actors Guild Award nominations a day earlier, the Globes field helps narrow down prospects for the Academy Awards, whose nominations come out Jan. 24. With drinks and dinner, the Globes are a laid-back affair for Hollywoods elite compared to the Oscars. The show turned a bit touchy last year as host Ricky Gervais repeatedly made sharp wisecracks about stars and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a group of about 85 entertainment reporters for overseas outlets that presents the Globes. But Gervais helped give the show a TV ratings boost, and hes been invited back as host for a third-straight year. Five-time Academy Award and Globe nominee Morgan Freeman - who won the supporting-actor Oscar for Million Dollar Baby and a best-actor Globe for Driving Miss Daisy - will receive the groups Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement at the Jan. 15 ceremony. Thursdays nominations in 25 film and television categories will be announced by actors Sofia Vergara, Woody Harrelson and Gerard Butler. Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press. All rights reserved. The Dictator Teaser Trailer Lands

Sacha Baron Cohen inside a helluva large beardThe first trailer for Sacha Baron Cohen's The Dictator has showed up, which is offensive. Just how you (possibly) enjoy it.Charged because the motion picture adaptation of Iraqi romance novel "Zabibah and also the King" by Bottom - yes, that Bottom - it differs greatly in the source text, representing Baron Cohen like a foreign dictator who involves America to understand a few things.Learn a few things, and, um, sleep with Megan Fox in return for some precious jewels and zipline between structures for no no reason. In contrast to Bruno and Borat, it isn't a mockumentary, but it's directed through the same guy: legendary Seinfeld author Ray Charles. For a clip itself, it's certainly not vintage Baron Cohen. The jokes feel just a little tired, the sporadic rascism an impression too casual, an impression too rascist.Still, as he's playing dual roles in that one, we are only seeing one for reds from the gold coin at this time, so possibly a couple of trailers down the road things will appear quite different.Anyhow, have a look on your own and let's read your comments. Does Sasha have another Borat-sized smash on his hands or perhaps a another Ali GIndahouse?Tell us within the comment box below. The Dictator, that also stars Anna Faris and Mister Ben Kingsley, has gone out May 18, 2012.

John Cleese, Eric Idle Beef Over Spamalot Royalties

First came the real talk from Eric Idle revealing why he recently canned fellow Monty Python mate John Cleese from the touring production of Spamalot, the stage musical adapted from their 1974 comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail. “I fired John Cleese — surgically removed him,” Idle told the Telegraph. “It wasn’t mean — he’s had millions of dollars from it. He charges people a fortune for using his voice. He’s always been in financial crisis.” A miffed Cleese took to Twitter to strike back at “Yoko Idle.” #embedly_twitter_49323781{background:url(http://a3.twimg.com/profile_background_images/1360852/smiley-lemur_sm.jpg) #000000;padding:20px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 p{background:#fff;padding:10px 12px 0px 12px;margin:0;min-height:48px;color:#000;font-size:18px;line-height:22px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .embedly_tweet_content{background:#fff;padding:10px 12px 10px 12px;margin:0;min-height:48px;color:#000;font-size:18px !important;line-height:22px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 p span.metadata{display:block;width:100%;clear:both;margin-top:0px;height:40px;padding-bottom:12px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 p span.metadata span.author{line-height:15px;color:#999;font-size:14px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 p span.metadata span.author a{line-height:15px;font-size:20px;vertical-align:middle;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 p span.metadata span.author img{float:left;margin:0 10px 0 0px;width:48px;height:48px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 p a {color:#097112;text-decoration:none;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 p a:hover{text-decoration:underline;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .embedly_timestamp{font-size:13px;display:inline-block;margin-top:5px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .components-above span.embedly_timestamp{font-size:10px;margin-top:1px;line-height:12px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 a {color:#097112;text-decoration:none;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 a:hover{text-decoration:underline;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .tweet-screen-name {font-size:14px;font-weight:bold;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .tweet-full-name {padding-left:4px;color:#999;font-size:12px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .tweet-actions{margin-left:10px;font-size:13px;display:inline-block;width:250px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .components-above span.tweet-actions{font-size:10px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .controls{line-height:12px!important;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .tweet-actions a {margin-left:5px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .tweet-actions a b{font-weight:normal;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .components-above span.tweet-actions a b{vertical-align:baseline;line-height:12px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .components-above .tweet-text{font-size:13px;vertical-align:baseline;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .tweet-image {float:left;width:40px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .tweet-user-block-image {float:left;width:48px;height:48px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .tweet-row {margin-left:40px;margin-top:3px;line-height:17px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .tweet-user-block {}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .stream-item {padding-bottom:0px;margin-left:12px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .simple-tweet-image img {margin-top:4px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .simple-tweet-content {margin:0 0 13px 0px;font-size:14px;min-height:48px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .in-reply-to-border {border-color:#EBEBEB;border-style:solid;border-width:1px 0 0;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .in-reply-to-text {margin-left:4px;padding-left:8px;padding-right:10px;color:#999;font-size:12px;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .tweet-actions i {background:transparent url(http://a2.twimg.com/a/1306889658/phoenix/img/sprite-icons.png) no-repeat;width:15px;height:15px;margin:0 4px 3px;outline:none;vertical-align:baseline;display:inline-block;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .tweet-actions a.retweet-action i {background-position:-192px 0;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .tweet-actions a.reply-action i {background-position:0 0;}#embedly_twitter_49323781 .tweet-actions a.favorite-action i {background-position:-32px 0;}@JohnCleeseJohn Cleese I see Yoko Idle’s been moaning (again), about the royalties he had to pay the other Python’s for Spamalot. The network averaged a 3.2 rating for the night, with an audience of 12.2 million. Fox's animation block suffered without the big draw NFL overrun it enjoyed last week. A softer football holdover audience at 7:00 p.m. lead into a repeat of The Cleveland Show (1.8 among adults 18-49), The Simpsons (3.0), another Cleveland repeat (2.3), Family Guy (3.1) and American Dad (2.5). Fox averaged a 2.7 for the night (with 5.99 million viewers), giving it a handsome lead over last place ABC. The big story on ABC is the continued decline of freshman fantasy drama Once Upon a Time. The winter finale brought more series lows, with a 2.9 rating among adults 18-49 (down three tenths of a point from last week's low) and an average audience of 8.9 million. In the show's defense, there was little in the way of destination viewing on ABC last night, with Once bookended by a repeat of America's Funniest Home Videos (1.6 in the demo) and an airing of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (1.3). Together it gave ABC a 1.8 rating in the demo for the night, with 5.92 million viewers. "Meryl was so gracious in losing." De Niro's remarks weren't the only salute she received from past collaborators. Madonna Noise Suit: The Nightmare Is Finally Over

This Past Year, a girl with the title of Karen George filed a suit against her next-door neighbor, who was simply "blaring music, stomping and shaking walls," making living conditions "intolerable." The neighbor? The best the material Girl herself: Madonna (just speculation, but maybe Karen gave Madonna some Hydrangeas?). However, the AP is verifying the problem has finally been settled from court with an undisclosed sum. After George initially weren't impressed using the noise, Madonna needed steps to "dampen" it. Apparently, that didn't work. The singer mentioned they stopped using her apartment for just about any studio the 2009 March (thanks?). When Madonna's not using her apartment in the testing space, she's marketing her film 'W.E.,' which she directed. It hits theaters this month.
